Releasing shame and guilt
One of the more difficult things about finally realizing that other people have hurt You is the fact that during this act or opening You will start to understand that You have hurt others.
While You go through this painful endeavor the amount of guilt and shame rising up to be released can at times seem insurmountable.
You must resist the temptation of going into denial and still allow it to come up.
Later on, when You have forgiven Yourself it is much easier to start forgiving those others who have wronged You.
Because of the simple fact that You see how broken and in pain You once were. This helps You to put Yourself into their shoes. And start releasing judgments, pain, and the idea that You were wronged in some shape or form.
