My Dear Son

And soon we are done
The dates go by, one by one
When I notice them
They smile at me
Remembering
That there is something outside of me
Measuring the time I spend here
They serve as important reminders
Death is always around the corner
But never quite near enough
Until it’s really time
This reality of ours
Is so fragile, so unforgiving
So here for the taking
So ready for living
Rest now and Your dreams will be vivid
My dear son
I will catch Your breath
When You are tired of Your restlessness
I’ll be here
My heart open and singing
